To be famous isn’t decent, there’s
\nNothing noble about it.
\nOne shouldn’t start archives,
\nTremble over manuscripts.<\/p>\n

Creation is self giving, and not
\nSuccess, not sensation.
\nTo be a parable on people’s lips
\nIs nothing is shame<\/p>\n

Live without pretenses, live
\nSo that, finally
\nYou draw towards yourself the love
\nOf space, hear the future.<\/p>\n

And leave gaps in fate, rather
\nThan have, marking the margins
\nOf your papers, places and chapters
\nOf a whole life.<\/p>\n

Sink into obscurity,
\nHide your steps in it,
\nAs a place hides in fog
\nWhen you can’t see a thing.<\/p>\n

Others will live their lives inch
\nBy inch, along your path.
\nBut you yourself should not distinguish
\nVictory from defeat.<\/p>\n

And do not, in any thing
\nRetreat from yourself.
\nJust be alive, only that, alive,
\nAlive, only that, to the end.<\/p>\n
