Accidental Masterpiece is a series of movement essays and conversations that reveal a menagerie of paradox, grit, human behavior and mystery. It opens portals into a landscape where things begin and end without context, where social conventions fail, where an uprising ends as soon as it begins, where the unanswered question hangs heavy, and where the artist is called to create amongst the ruins of an industry. It is about the undeniable spirit of creation.

Upcoming Workshop Brooklyn, NY

Workshop Monday May 3rd and 10th
Meta Silks and Rope Choreography

This class is designed to explore concepts such as hanging, balancing, falling and pathways. The focus is on aerial as a physical concept and experiential practice. We will explore theories about technique, momentum, presence and form while asking questions and embracing room for risk and possibilities. We will research sequences to gain efficiency, ease, fluidity, and awareness, making us better aerialists in a safe and supportive environment.
Must be able to invert repeatedly in the air and have a hip key and s-wrap.
Not for beginners.

Tomorrow I will Contradict Myself

In June I will have a creation residency upstate at The Church in Mt. Vision. I have been creating little vignettes of ideas and costuming over on Instagram @Ironfanny.

Here is as sample of the stills from the project.

I AM THE VENUE

I Am The Venue is a series of movement essays that reveal a private/public menagerie of paradox, grit, human behavior and mystery. It opens portals into a landscape where things begin and end without context, where social conventions fail, where an uprising ends as soon as it begins, where the unanswered question hangs heavy, and where the artist is called to create amongst the ruins of an industry. It is about the undeniable spirit of creation that endures even while spaces close, bodies age and resources dry up. I Am The Venue meditates upon Rebecca Solnits’ quote. “There is no good answer to being a woman; the art may instead lie in how we refuse the question.”

Art and community: Art elevates the human experience and provides space where ideas can be exchanged. Allowing ideas to act as a catalyst for change and foster empathy.

character sketches and movement essays in process can be found at Instagram @ironfanny to be constructed as an evening at a later date.
